Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and current presidential candidate of the Labour Party, recently announced a donation of N20 million to the Faith Foundation Mission Hospital in Nsukka, Enugu State. This contribution is earmarked for the establishment of a College of Nursing Sciences.
Obi disclosed this philanthropic initiative via a post on his social media handle on Monday, November 13. He emphasized that this gesture aligns with his unwavering commitment to investing in crucial areas of national development, specifically highlighting health, education, and poverty eradication.
In his statement, he stated, “The donation is my initial support to the hospital through the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka, Rt Rev. Aloysius Agbo, to help them commence the building of a College of Nursing Sciences.” Obi stressed the importance of healthcare workers in the foundation of any credible healthcare system and expressed the need to prioritize the training of these professionals, especially given the current shortage globally.
He commended the Faith Foundation Hospital for taking the initiative to establish a College of Nursing Sciences, recognizing the pivotal role of healthcare workers in primary healthcare delivery.
