Catholic Priest Disappears from Abuja Archdiocese – Authorities Initiate Investigation, October 30, 2023 – Rev. Fr. Samson Emokhidi, a Catholic priest affiliated with the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, has gone missing in the nation’s capital city. He was last seen leaving his residence on October 1, 2023.
The Archdiocese issued an official statement addressed to ‘All Priest, Religious, and Lay Faithfuls,’ expressing deep concern about the disappearance of the priest, who vanished ‘without any trace’ and has not been in contact since.
The statement, dated October 30, 2023, and signed by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Fr. Sam Tumba, disclosed that the matter has been reported to local authorities, who have initiated an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his vanishing.
The Archdiocese further urged anyone with pertinent information about the priest’s whereabouts to reach out to the Chancery or the relevant authorities.
The statement read, ‘This is to inform the entire Archdiocese family about our brother and Priest Rev. Fr. Samson Emokhidi, who left his residence on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 8:45 pm. He left without any trace and has not been seen or heard from since then.
The matter has been reported to the civil authorities, who have since commenced investigations. The Archbishop and the Auxiliary Bishop request that we remember him in our prayers, and if anyone has useful information regarding his whereabouts, kindly contact the Chancery.
