SON Engages Schools Proprietors On Importance Of Education Management System

Standard organization of Nigeria SON, has emphasized the importance of education system management( ISO 21001) in Nigerian schools to improve education system in the country.
SON Director of Management System and Certification, engr. Felix Nyado stated this at a stakeholders forum on education management system; ISO21001, organized by SON, held on Tuesday in Kano.
According to him the ISO21001 is voluntary standard developed to enable educational organizations to establish the systems and process necessary to demonstrate its ability to support the acquisition and development of competence through teaching, learning and research.
“Quality of education is primary concern for everyone, as education is a fundamental requirement for development of any society, with ISO21001, you will be able to offer world-class educational services more effectively,’’Nyado said.
‘’It also guarantees a more personalized experience to the learners, especially for those with special educational needs as well as the distant learners.’’
“One of SON mandates is to support all businesses in determining quality of products/ services using standardization, certifications and quality of assurance, It is also important to promote and sustain our learning institutions by ensuring that the services that are provided in our schools meet the needs of learners, promote equal opportunities for all students and earn the confidence and approval of learners’ sponsors in order to contribute their quota to national growth and development,” he said.
In a remark, Assistant Director of Education Education Quality Assurance Service (FEQAS), from the Federal Ministry of Education, Muhammed Sai’d, described the system as part of activities in education sector, where all hands must be on deck.
Sai’d said there was a little gap in education system where non governmental organisations, individuals and influential indigenes needed to step in to bridge the gap.
Talatu maryam Abba a participant at the event, who represented Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo secondary school Kano, expressed happiness for participating in the program.
Kassim Akinrinola, also another participant who represented St. Louis secondary school Kano, said he would make use of knowledge acquired during the event.
