Kano Government To Construct Residences For Its Media Organizations’ Night Shift Employees
Kano State Government has said it will build houses in its own media organizations for use by its staff on night duty.
It is reports that this was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Saturday by the Director of Special Duties of the State Ministry of Information, Sani Abba Yola.
Yola said the state Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, disclosed this while receiving members of the State Council of Radio, Television, and Theatre Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Dantiye said plans were underway to build the houses in the state government-owned media houses to enable the staff on night duty to “have a place to stay the night.”
He said this would create an enabling environment and address the challenges being faced by the staff on the night or early morning shift who left their houses for their workplaces.
The Commissioner who commended the contributions of RATTAWU to effective information dissemination in the state, assured them of his support for them to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
Earlier, the Chairman, of Radio, Television, Theatre and Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) Kano State Council, Babangida Mahmuda Biyamusu, said they were at the commissioner’s office to congratulate him on his appointment.
Biyamusu who revealed that the union had over 3,000 members in the state, appealed to the state government to support it in addressing some of its challenges which included a lack of office accommodation and a vehicle for its operations.
He assured the Commissioner of the union’s readiness to support and publicize the activities of the state government.
