Jigawa, Dutch Sign MoU To End Flooding

The Jigawa State Government, Dutch experts in flood prevention, KWT and AVECO DE BONDT of Netherlands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to end flooding in the state.
The signing took place on Tuesday at the Nigerian Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands.
The event was witnessed by the Ambassador of Nigeria to the Netherlands, Dr Eniola Olaitan Ajayi, the Chairman of the Nigeria-Dutch Business Association and other stakeholders.
The Jigawa State Governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, expressed his optimism that the collaboration would bring a final solution to flood-disrupting economic activities in the state.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal D. Sankara.
According to Sankara, the governor said: “The flooding in our state has been a major setback for our economy and has caused a lot of hardship to our people.
“We are committed to finding a lasting solution to this problem, and we are confident that the expertise of KWT and AVECO DE BONDT will be instrumental in achieving this goal.”
The state’s Director General of the Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau, Ado Hussaini, also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Dutch experts to find a permanent solution to the problem of flooding in our state.
“We believe that this collaboration will bring about the much-needed relief to our people and boost economic activities in the state,” Hussaini stated.
Also speaking, the Dutch experts assured the governor of their commitment to work alongside the state to end the flooding in the state.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Jigawa State Government in this project.
“We are confident that our expertise in flood prevention and protection will be beneficial to the people of Jigawa State,” said a representative of the KWT.
