Kano Police Arrest Two For Violating NBC Code, Criminal Conspiracy

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspects for violating the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Code and engaging in criminal conspiracy.
The suspects were identified as Umar Adamu, a 23-year-old resident of Yankaba Quarters, and Hussaini Musa, a 33-year-old resident of Danladi Nasidi Quarters, both in Kano.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the spokesperson of the command, in a statement on Friday, said the suspects were currently in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bompai Police Command Headquarters.
According to Kiyawa, the arrests were made following an investigation into the airing of an unverified public announcement that was falsely attributed to the Kano State First Lady.
He added that the unauthorized broadcast led to the extortion of money from over fifty individuals.
Kiyawa further stated that the police were diligently working to determine the extent of the involvement of the conspirators, their sponsors, and the media house responsible for the broadcast.
The audio according to Kiyawa was transcripted thus: “I greet you the good people of Kano State.
“A known World Empowerment Organization in collaboration with the wife of the Kano State Governor will sponsor the training of two thousand (2000) people in catering like pizza, shawarma, burgers, eggroll, samosa, etc.
“And the two have taken responsibility for the registration fees of all the participants
“In addition, there will be provision of empowerment for all after completion of the training.
