Kano Ministry of Health Unveils Action Plan for Health Security

The Kano State Ministry of Health has officially unveiled its action plan for health security in an event that was held on Monday at Tahir Guest.
The action plan will mitigate the fast spread of uncommon outbreaks in the state.
In attendance were health organization partners from both national and international which include; Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Ministry of Agricultural and Natural Resources (MoANR), Ministry of Environment (MoENV) and Ministry of Planning and Budget (MoPB).
Other partners are World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), FCDO-Lafiya, Legislative Initiative for Sustainable Development (LISDEL), Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) and others.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said Kano State has always been at the forefront of improving health systems and security.
While unveiling the document which contains the action plans of achieving a sustainable health security by Dr. Tsanyawa said: “The document will guide in having a progressive health system in the state and also guide how to respond to emergency situations.
“This is a very important document and Kano state will do its best in achieving a good health security system.”
He applauded the partners in supporting the Kano State Ministry of Health in all its activities.
While giving updates on the State’s health security action plan, Dr. Abdullahi Kaurantama, State Epidemiologist, presented that “Every nation has a system and must have the capacity to respond to health emergencies issues, by implementing that it will make Kano a safer place.”
He disclosed that the action plan is to help prevent outbreaks and epidemics in the state.
Partners of the Kano State Action Plan for Health Security, (KSAPHS) commended the State Government in ensuring and strengthening the health system.
They also assured that technical support will be provided to sustain health development in making Kano a safer place.
The highlight of the event was the questions and answers session on the action plan.
