JUST IN : Police seal Kano Emir’s palace, restrict his movement

Heavily armed policemen have sealed the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, restricting his free movement.

The security personnel took over the palace as early as 6am on Friday. Thus preventing the Emir from coming out of the palace.

It was noticed that police and plain cloth security personnel arrived the palace and took strategic positions around the complex.

Sources claim that a district head who was recently appointed by the Emir was scheduled to depart for Bichi to assume duty this morning, but was unable to do so due to the heavy security presence at the palace.

The sources also said that the Emir had planned to host a meeting with clerics and economists to discuss the contentious Tax Reforms Bill.

However, the deployment of security personnel prevented the meeting from taking place.

As at the time of filing this report, however,the Emir had come out of the main palace and stationed himself and aides in front of the complex where he usually holds the traditional Durbar during Sallah festivities.

Sunusi and his aides came out of the palace amid pomp and ceremony,traditional gun salutes and cheers from the mammoth crowd that gathered around.
