Jigawa Governor Inaugurates Committee For Distribution Of Subsidized Fertilizer

The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has inaugurated a committee for the distribution of government-subsidized fertilizer across the state.
The inauguration took place on Friday at the State Government House in Dutse, the state’s capital.
During the inauguration ceremony, the governor said the move was part of efforts to support farmers in the state.
Governor Namadi also appointed his Chief of Staff, Mustapha Makama to chair the committee.
Auwal D. Sankara, the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, made this known in a statement on Friday.
According to Sankara, the committee chairman is equipped with a wealth of experience in agriculture and an understanding of the challenges faced by farmers in the state.
He said the governor while noting the need for the removal of fuel subsidy, stressed the need to support the farmers in the state.
“The removal of fuel subsidies is a necessary step towards economic stability.
“However, we must also ensure that our farmers receive the support they need during this transition.
“The committee’s role is crucial in facilitating the timely distribution of subsidized fertilizer, which will help cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal,” Sankara quoted Governor Namadi.
The governor added that the fertilizer would be sold at the subsidized price of N16,000 per bag, below market price.
On his part, the committee chairman, Makama, said the committee remains committed to ensuring increased productivity to enhance food security in the state.
“We understand the financial constraints faced by many farmers, and our goal is to alleviate their burden by providing subsidized fertilizer.
“By making it available at a reduced cost, we aim to empower farmers and encourage increased agricultural output, ultimately contributing to enhanced food security in our state.
He added that the committee would ensure the equitable distribution of the fertilizer across all Local Government Areas of the state.
