IPOB Criticizes DSS for Restricting Kanu’s Access to Visitors
IPOB Condemns DSS Denial of Nnamdi Kanu’s Visitor Access, Labels Excuse ‘Laughable and Suspicious’
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) criticized the Directorate of State Services (DSS) on Monday for refusing Nnamdi Kanu access to visitors. The group also rebuked DSS claims that insufficient personnel, attributed to the Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi state elections, was a factor in denying visitor access to Kanu.
In a press statement issued by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Monday, the group deemed the DSS’s explanations as “laughable and suspicious.” The pro-Biafran group asserted that the denial of access to Kanu was a deliberate effort to inflict torture and create difficulties for him.
The statement highlighted an incident on November 9, 2023, when the DSS refused Kanu access to visitors, citing logistical challenges due to elections in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states. IPOB questioned the rationale behind the denial, noting that during previous general elections, including presidential, gubernatorial, national assembly, and state assembly elections, Kanu was allowed visitors at the DSS facility.
The group concluded that the refusal to grant Kanu visitor access during the mentioned elections was a strategic move to torment and complicate matters for the pro-Biafran leader.”
