Insecurity: Jigawa Police Meets Religious Leaders

Jigawa Commissioner of Police, Effiom Emmanuel Ekot, has met with religious leaders of the State and fine-tuned some of the modalities to enhance security in the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu made the disclosure in a statement issued on Friday.
He said the meeting was to discuss some sensitive security challenges at Command’s disposal, advise the religious leaders to alert their followers to be security conscious, and report any suspicious faces or movement of an individual or group of people to the nearest security outfits for prompt action.
He further explained that the meeting was to implement preventative measures at their places of worshipping such as the use of metal detectors to screen worshippers, particularly during Juma’ah/Eid prayer and Church services.
According to the PPRO, the rationale behind the meeting was to keep on praying for the State to continue enjoying the peace that existed.
DSP Shiisu added that both invited Muslims and Christian scholars delivered speeches to ensure harmony and unity in the State.
The Jigawa State Council of Ulama’u, Jama’atu Nasrul Ismal (JNI), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Izalatul Bidiah Wa’ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS KD/JOS), Munazzamatu Fityanul Islam (Tijjaniyyah), Darikatul Qadiriyyah and Members of the Command’s Management Team were grace the meeting.
