Heighten Tension in Kano As APC Set To Protest Over Election Outcome.
Following the outcome of the March 18 gubernatorial election in Kano State The All Progressive Peoples Congress (APC) is set to stage a protest and takeover of INEC office in Kano State.
Mammud Garba, the spokesperson of the APC in Kano, describe the protest as the first stage of their reaction.
“We are not relenting until we reclaim back our mandate, it is clear that we won, everyone knows and understands the manipulations done, while we are already considering the matter at the tribunal, we are sure our protest will yield fruit”
Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations officer while responding to our question as to the plans of the police to manage the APC protest call, assures the people of Kano that the police is on the matter.
“It is everybody’s right to protest, but what the police won’t tolerate is a violent protest that will distort the peace of the state, we have gotten notification of the protest notice and we are still in communication with the party to dissuade them from going on with the protest to avoid disruption of peace and business activities.”
“Everybody should go on with their activities, there must not be any form of panic as the Nigerian police is on alert to manage whatever outcomes we might be faced with, but we assure all that nothing of that such will happen”
