Governors Of The PDP Set To Convene A Meeting With Governor Wike To Address The Crisis In Rivers State

Governors elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party are set to convene a meeting with former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. HeraldReporters learned that the attempt by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, led to unrest in the state on Monday as the governor’s supporters staged a protest at the assembly complex against the alleged plot.
The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, issued a statement following a meeting at the Oyo State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday. In the statement, they praised President Bola Tinubu for his involvement in resolving the political crisis. The forum, as explained by its Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, announced on Wednesday that the decision to visit Governor Wike was made during the forum’s meeting on Tuesday.
Maduabum clarified that the visit’s purpose is reconciliation and mediation. The statement stated, “The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to assemble at his residence, No. 1 Miriam Aloma Muktar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit.” The visit is scheduled to take place in the FCT Minister’s office at 11 am.
