Gombe: NBA Appoints Jalo As Parliamentary Secretary

The Clerk of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Barrister Rukayyatu A. Jalo, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
 The news of the appointment is contained in a letter addressed to the members of the association.
As contained in a statement on Monday by Shuaibu Mamman, Chief Information Officer of the state’s Assembly, the letter was signed by the President of the Association, Chief Charles Chonoko Maikyau, SAN.
“The Standing and Ad Hoc Committees were constituted pursuant to Section 14 of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2021), and ratified by the National Executive Council (NEC) in its Quarterly Meeting held on 23 March 2023, in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State,” Mamman said the letter indicated.
Committees constituted according to the letter include the Judiciary Committee, Law Reform, Rule of Law and Human Rights, Ethics and Disciplinary, Legal Education, Dispute Resolution, Welfare, Finance, General Purpose and Sports and Recreation Committee.
Others were the Constitutional Review, Security Agencies Relation, Digital, Anti-corruption, Media Creativity, Future of Legal Practice, Public Interest Litigation, NBA Stabilization Fund, NBA Parliamentary Affairs as well as Appointment and Remuneration Committee.
Mamman added that the National President appreciated the committee members for accepting to serve the association.
He further called on all other members to support the committees to deliver on their mandate.
Reacting to the appointment, the Management and Staff of the State House of Assembly, expressed delight and attributed it to Jalo’s sterling leadership qualities and dedication to the promotion of the Legislature and the Legal profession.
While congratulating her on the new appointment, “They prayed for God to guide, protect and give her more wisdom to deliver the mandate given to her by the Association,” Mamman added.
