Tiv, Hausa Residents Clash In Benue

 

There is an ongoing clash in Benue state. Reports reaching Herald Reporters from Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, disclosed there is tension currently in Northbank, an outskirt Tiv and Hausa community known for its hostility due to incessant cult activities.

 Herald Reporters correspondents in Markurdi confirm that the clash is as a result of some disagreement between some Tiv and Hausa youths currently at war for reasons yet unknown.

According to witness reports gathered from a number of residents of the area, no few than 4 persons have been confirmed dead while several others injured have been rushed to the hospital.

Some residents of the area said they have been trapped inside for hours and are afraid to go out.

The real cause of the fight is yet to be known but sources say there are sporadic gunshots in the troubled area.

In an effort by Herald Reporters to speak with the Spokesperson of Benue State Police command Catherine Anene, she was unavailable to take her calls was not taken at the time of this report.
