CESPOR, BUK Inaugurates Research Fellows

The Center for Economic, Social and Population Research (CESPOR) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has inaugurated eight academics from the university as research fellows to fast-track activities of the center which basically aims at finding lasting evidence-based solutions to societal issues in areas of the economic, social and population. 

Speaking during the inaugural meeting held at the center at BUK, new site on Tuesday, Director of the center, Professor Nu’uman Habib said the center was commissioned three years ago aims at becoming a leading center of excellence and globally recognized as a social, economic and population policy research center. 

Prof Habib further said CESPOR is committed to developing solutions to pressing economic, social and population problems of national concerns through professionalism and ideas sharing as well as to promote advancement of knowledge through trainings, workshops, conferences, seminars and other academic engagements.

Prof Habib said the research fellows of the center are drawn from different disciplines in line with global best practice, adding that they are saddled with the responsibility of undertaking researches and publications, to proactively identify opportunities for external funding sources and manage research grants among other responsibilities. 

The Director further urged the research fellows to make best use of the opportunity and always strive at attaining excellence, promising that all researches will be high impact, evidence based and aim at influencing policies for a better nation.
