APC Criticizes Atiku’s Proposal for Opposition Merger
APC Dismisses Atiku’s Call for Opposition Merger, Advises PDP to Tend to Internal Issues
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for advocating the merger of opposition parties, suggesting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should prioritize resolving its internal crises. Atiku proposed the opposition’s merger against the APC during a meeting with the national executive committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Abuja.
In response, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, ridiculed Atiku, claiming that he was struggling to accept reality after his defeat in the presidential poll. Morka emphasized that Nigerians could differentiate between the political history of the PDP and the commitment of the APC to strengthening democracy.
He urged Atiku and the PDP to focus on repairing the PDP’s damaged reputation and addressing internal issues. Morka highlighted controversies surrounding the PDP’s candidate selection in the recent Imo governorship election as an example of the party’s disregard for due process.
While acknowledging Atiku’s call for opposition parties to unite, the APC emphasized its commitment to delivering on electoral promises for the benefit of Nigerians.
