Again, court orders arrest of Kano APC chair, Abdullahi Abbas, over threat to life, incitement

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has granted an order for leave to immediately arrest, investigate and prosecute the Kano State APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas over threat to life, distraction of peace and hate speeches.
Mahmoud Lamido, a concerned citizen of Kano, had approached the court through his lawyer, Bashir Tudunwazirchi, seeking the immediate arrest of the APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas for issuing a threat to his life via phone call that he would kill him (sai na batar da kai).
Justice S.A. Amobeda of the Federal High Court 3 sitting in Kano granted the order and adjourned to February 16 to monitor compliance.
Reacting to the development in a statement, the spokesman for the opposition NNPP campaign council, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, said it was the second time in a row, a similar court order was granted by different judges, compelling the Commissioner of Police to arrest and prosecute Mr Abbas on cases related to violence, intimidation and threat to life.
“We hope this will serve as a lesson to any politician who chooses the way of violence rather than promoting peace in Kano and Nigeria,” Mr Dawakin Tofa added.
