Israel Is Encouraged By The WHO To Rescind The Evacuation Order For Hospitals
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a plea to Israel to revoke its evacuation directive concerning hospitals in northern Gaza. WHO spokesperson Tarik Jašarević emphasized the significant challenges involved in moving patients, particularly those reliant on mechanical ventilators, newborns in incubators, and individuals in unstable conditions. The spokesperson described the task as exceptionally difficult, almost verging on the impossible. Jašarević urged Israel to reconsider the evacuation order, emphasizing the pressing need for action.
Up to this point, four trucks carrying surgical and dressing materials and medications for chronic illnesses have been successfully delivered to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing. However, this is still insufficient to meet the urgent healthcare requirements. Additional trucks stand ready on the Egyptian side, but concerns about security guarantees have thus far prevented the safe transport of these vital supplies.
