Governor Bagudu Receives Course Sixteen Members Of NISS

The Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has received the Course Sixteen members of the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS) in Birnin Kebbi, the state’s capital.
The NISS Team Leader, Isaac Olufemi Shotayo, explained that the visit was part of the institution’s yearly routine towards boosting national, African and global development.
 “We are a delegation from the National Institute of Security Studies, NISS, Abuja.
“This is one of the six syndicates across the country.”
He further explained that the syndicate comprised members from Nigeria, Chad, Rwanda, Gambia and Niger Republic.
“We want to assess the impact the Governors are making in line with this year’s theme (Globalisation and Regional Economic Integration: Implications for Sustainable
“We will find how the state is leveraging on the theme,” Shotayo said.
He further commended the warm reception accorded them since their arrival.
“And we must commend the hospitality we have been enjoying since we arrived in the state.”
This was contained in a statement by Yahaya Sarki, spokesperson to the governor.
While hosting them, Bagudu stressed the need for mutual national and global economic growth.
The governor noted that each of the 774 local government areas in Nigeria was abundantly blessed with commodities to flourish in the global market.
However, he lamented that non of the 15 West African countries was self-sufficient in food production, despite having vast fertile land and a rich population.
“We need to achieve a lot and the signed Africa Free Trade Agreement will change the situation.
“Nigeria has all along been Afro-centric and we want the whole of Africa to succeed and progress.
“The world must buy from us just as we are buying from the world.
“We should not just be exporting jobs and prosperity,” Bagudu said.
The governor further acknowledged that Nigeria is now self-sufficient in rice production following the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari, and states like Kebbi.
He further appreciated the delegation for the visit saying: “I really appreciate the choice of Kebbi State for this visit, the third time while I am the Governor of the state.”
